Join Victoria filmmaker Richard Raxlen on Thursday, January 26 at 5:00 pm at Open Space, 510 Fort Street for the premiere of Korn-U-Kopia, a new dual screen projection.
Korn-U-Kopia extends Raxlen’s love of 16mm film, and treats viewers to a cinematic survey of his creative strategies and play: flipbooks and comic books, Mutt and Jeff in silent black and white, a cut up Haunted House, sequences shot this summer in his Lee Ave neighbourhood and backyard, THE IRISH GRINGO, Hoppy and Roy Rogers plus many minutes of clear leader colored on and outs from earlier Raxlen movies, and much more …The screening is free and everyone is welcome.
This week, the 24 Images, a venerable Montreal film journal selected Raxlen’s 1982 short, optically printed classic Jaffa Gate as of one the 200 must-see films of Quebec. JaffaGate is available for viewing at Open Space.
Korn-U-Kopia will be screened during a major exhibition Richard Raxlen Introspective?!*√˚”ç¥å?! examining the first 40 years of his career.
